  • Welcomes anyone who holds an associate or equivalent, baccalaureate, or higher degree from a qualified educational institution.
  • Mission Statement:  AAUW advances equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, and research.
  • Educational Foundation:  provides funds to women for continuing education, research, and self-development.
  • Legal Advocacy Fund:  provides funds and a support system for women fighting sex discrimination.

  • The communities of Ahwatukee, Chandler, Sun Lakes, Tempe, and Sun Bird.
  • Over 100 members.

COMMUNITY ACTION

  • San Marcos Elementary School
  • Volunteers

o       Listen to students read

o       Read to students

o       Assist in a classroom

o       Mentoring women in their English speaking skills.

 

  • Members

o       Assist in providing school uniforms

o       Contribute supplies for the school store

o       Contribute clothing and canned food for San Marcos families

 

  • Mission-based Community Action Project

o       A committee is designing an additional project which will be directed specifically toward girls and women

o       This project will be launched  in the fall of 2008

o       It will be in addition to the San Marcos project

 

AAUW’S EDUCATIONAL AND LEGAL ADVOCACY FUND

  • Supported by various fund raisers throughout the year

EDUCATIONAL FUND 

We have been advancing educational and professional opportunities for 50 years.  AAUW will donate 4.5 million dollars for women’s scholarships and fellowship in 2008-2009.  AAUW’S VALUE PROMISE IS TO HELP BREAK DOWN EDUCATIONAL AND ECONOMIC BARRIERS SO ALL WOMEN HAVE A FAIR CHANCE!!
